Overall a good buy

Pros Small, lightweight, good battery life, affordable
Cons Gaps between mp3 songs, takes a while to read multi-session discs
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  After half a year I have to say I've been completely satisfied with it. One of my prize possessions, and definitely worth the money.
I've had mine for about 6 months and I've been totally satisfied. I listen to it mostly while walking or riding my bike using mp3's on cdrw for the most part. The skip protection is excellent, although it has skipped a couple times on me for no reason. It can display track information from both cd text and id3 tags. You can organize mp3's into folders and play back either the entire disc or just a folder. The battery life is great too. I use rechargeable duracells and they usually last around 5 days of me listening to mp3's whenever I'm not sitting. I was kind of hoping that Sony would have a model with a built in battery charger, maybe in the future. A couple things that did bother me were the gaps between songs in mp3 mode and that a multi-session disc takes a while to be read when you first put it in.
