The Bottom Line:
This is a great walkman with excellent function, sound quality, and a handy AC adapter. You wouldn't catch me trading mine in!
I love my Sony Walkman. I love the fact that it can play MP3 files. If you are someone who downloads a lot of music to CD, this is a great product for you. As you can download 10 albums or more to a CD, this walkman has a convenient folder selection button to allow you to quickly select what MP3 album you want to listen to, without going through dozens of songs to get there. The walkman also has great battery life. When playing MP3 disks, the batteries last about 30 hours. With regular CDs, they last about 20 hours, or more.
This walkman also comes with an AC adapter, who's electrical cord is a handy four or so feet long. I find I use the AC adapter often when I'm visiting family members or friends, or when working night shifts. I really saves me a lot on batteries. I had the same batteries for six months before having to replace them. There is also a battery life indicator on the display screen, which lets you know when they need replacing.
I find the sound quality to be great. There are three sound settings on the walkman: normal, bass 1, and bass 2. I find that with bass 2, some distortion can be heard at times, if I'm playing a track that already has a lot of bass. In which case, I use one of the other two sound settings. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
I've also found that this walkman stands up quite well to jolts and bumps. I've thumped it pretty hard by accident a couple of times, and it didn't skip at all. I find it to be of excellent durability.
The design is also quite nice. It's slim and sleek, not bulky at all. Features include those that I've already described as well as display screen selections, menu access, volume control, forward/play, back and stop buttons, and a hold tab for when not in use.
