So this is how music is supposed to sound!

Pros Long battery life, skip free operation.
Cons Small buttons, no pause.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  A good cd player, with great sound, and no skipping.
Theft, Malfunctions, and Musical Bliss

The reason I bought this cd player is a bit odd, I started out with one Sony Discman and it was stolen. It had always worked great for me and did it's job so I replaced it with the same model, this time my luck wasn't so great. It skipped for no reason, and rarely played a song without making it all the way through without a glitch. So after a few months of frustration with my new cd player I gave up. Finally again deciding I needed a new cd player that works like it's supposed to, I headed off to Target. I don't make much money so I was trying to find a somewhat cheap cd player. I'll admit I'm a bit of a Sony person so when I saw the D-E220 and the price I thought why not? So I picked up the cd player, crossed my fingers, and tried it out. Let's just say I'm now a happy kid. I've had the cd player for about 6 months now and have yet to have a problem with it. No skips, no bleeps, no weird grinding noises, and all is good in music land.

So why's it so good?

First of all the battery life in this cd player simply amazes me (it runs on 2 AA batteries). I listen to a lot of music, on my way to college (about a half an hour drive), on my way to work (again about a half an hour trip), and on my way home from work (another 15 minutes), plus some more time in between all of those totally to about 4 hours or so a day. And the batteries last weeks! This alone has saved me quite a bit of money compared to my last portable cd player. So this is probably the best part of this model.
Secondly it doesn't skip even under some pretty shaky situations. Like I said I use it in my car and there are some pretty rough roads on my way to and from there and it plays as smooth as glass. Even though I've never tried, you could probably use this cd player when you go running or any other type of physical exercise that gives the player quite a beating. The bass is pretty good and has three different settings so you can choose where you like it best. The cheaper headphones that come with it can only take about the second one without being muddy and distorted, but a good pair can probably handle the third no problem. The controls are pretty easy to use and pretty straight forward, even though I?ll go over what I consider some rough spots in the complaints section. The cd player has a hold button which when you turn it on it disables the buttons. This feature is nice if you carry it in a book bag and don?t want it to turn on while it?s in there. It also has resume (even though it can?t be turned on and off), which if you stop the song and then hit play again (without opening the lid), it?ll start up right where you left off. This is yet another nice feature for when you accidentally hit stop.

Complaints

Even though this is a great cd player for it?s cheap price I do have a few, I?d consider these small though, complaints. My first one is there is no pause button. The only way to stop a song is to....well stop it. Even though the resume will pick up where you left off, a pause button would still be nice. The other problem I have with the cd player is the size of the buttons. Some people with large hands might have a problem operating some of the controls because of the size of the buttons on the front of the player. So for the fact of how well this cd player does it?s job, these are two small things that can easily be adjusted too.

Conclusions

If you?re looking for a cd player that will perform and won?t cost too much this is a nice one to look at. It plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs with no problem, has a good battery life, and plays pretty much skip free (at least in my experience). They also come in a few different colors for those of you who are tired of the same old same old silver in most common players.
