byloro Oct 29, 2000
Pros useful extra features, durable, sounds great
Cons gets scuff marks? this is so minor but its really the only con
Recommended it? Yes
This is the best portable CD player I have ever owned. It has great sound quality, lots of extra helpful features, and is extremely durable.

We'll start with the features:
ESP: This is *amazing*!!! The first day I got my CD I decided to test out the "steadysound electron skip protection" so I shook my discman around rapidly the way you shake orange juice before you drink it- no skips! Next I banged on it repeatedly while I listened- still no skips!! I don't exercise, but this would be a great CD player to bring to the gym or while you are out jogging. ESP can be turned on and off, I recommend turning it off if you're just going to be sitting still because it sucks up a lot of battery power.
Hold Button: I love my hold button! The last CD player I had didn't have one so it would always start playing while it was in my backpack, which made my batteries run down really quickly. The cool thing about this hold button is that you can't play the CD while hold is on, but you can open it up and put a new CD in. Most CD players the hold button means you can't open it up either.
Play Modes: The play modes are: shuffle; which puts the songs in random order, 1; which repeats 1 song over and over again, Intro PGM; which plays the first few seconds of every song on the CD, and RMS. I haven't ever messed around with RMS so I don't know what it does. I have never used Intro PGM but it's nice to have I suppose, and I use shuffle a lot.
Repeat: you have a choice whether or not the CD plays over again after you reach the end or just stops
Sound: You have a choice between nothing, MB, or GRV. I have no idea what these mean but have noticed that a lot of things sound better in GRV.
Resume: This is so cool!!! You can turn it on or off, and if you have it on the CD player will start on the second that you stopped the last time you listened as long as you haven't taken out the CD. I always keep this on and find it really useful.

About Durability: This discman has held up really well. I've dropped it a few times and always keep it in my backpack where it gets beat around all the time and it works as good as new. The only problem I've had are some minor scuff marks that are on the lid, which has made it look a little less pretty but hasn't impaired the quality at all.

Overall this is an excellent CD player that I recommend to everyone!
