Do not use in your vehicle!
Pros
Tons of functions and great sound quality.
Cons
I was unlucky and my ESP did not work properly.
Recommended it?
Yes
The model I actually own is the E-406CK. This is a model that doesn't include a remote control but otherwise is exactly like the E-405.
I bought this portable CD player with the sole purpose of using it in my car which does not have a CD player. What a mistake! This player was skipping from minute one even though I was using the ESP (Electronic Shock Protection) function. I could not even go over the yellow lines in the road without the CD skipping. Maybe the ESP function is inoperable. I don't know. I decided to keep the unit as is and live with it.
The CD player itself is a good player. It has a lot of functions including, repeat play, intro program, shuffle, RMS play, ESP (if it works), bass power boost, button lock, AVLS, and resume play.
Repeat play allows you to repeat one track over and over or you can repeat the whole CD over and over. Intro program will scan the first 15 seconds of each song. Press repeat/enter while the track you want is playing and at the end it will play only the songs that you have chosen. Shuffle play just plays the songs in random order. RMS play is the function that allows you to play the tracks in the order you want them. You may program up to 22 tracks in any order you choose. ESP minimizes skipping by using a buffer memory to store music data and play it back if there is a disruption. This should mean that you have no delay. The bass boost function is self explanatory. The button lock function prevents accidental operations. It locks the buttons into their position and if you accidentally touch one it will not respond. It will still respond to a remote if you have that particular model. AVLS is the Automatic Volume Limiter System. This function keeps down the maximum volume to protect your ears. The resume play function is used when you want to stop playing for a while but still have the CD start up where it was stopped. That way if you turn off the power it will still start up where it left off. If you open the lid it will disable this function.
This CD player does have a digital display that you can easily read. It does let you know everything you are doing. It displays the track number and the running time also.
The player comes with a car lighter adapter, a AC power adapter, and a cassette deck adapter for your car. There is a car installation kit included that has velcro strips so you can mount the unit on your dashboard. There is also an output jack on the side of the unit so you can hook it to a stereo or other unit if you obtain the proper adapter.
Overall this is a very good CD player. It has plenty of functions and sounds very good. I think I just got unlucky with mine and I am sure I could have returned it and got a replacement. I now use it often inside my home and I have no skipping problems or anything else for that matter. I do recommend this CD player if you are in the market for one. The price was around $110.00 and I feel that it was a little high but it could have been worse. I do suggest if you do buy one of these players that you try it out before you leave the store parking lot.
