The Bottom Line:
The Sony D-EJ100 is a great cd player for $50, and it's perfect for teens. It has the best quality for under $70
If you noticed all my cd player reviews, you would notice that I have no luck whatsoever with portable cd players. I take care of them, keep them clean, never drop them, and they break on me. Just like my Sony S2 sports cd player did. I used it for 3 months and it went. Died on the way back from a trip to Philidelphia. I returned it to walmart, and thanks to there great return policy, I was able to return it and get my money back. Off to Best Buy we go.
When we got to Best Buy there was a huge selection of portable cd players. There were cheap Curtis and Audiophase ones that looked cheap and the cheapest curtis was $10. And there were more expensive ones like Panasonic, Sony, and even CD/MP3 ones. I don't need MP3 I can easily translate MP3 files to Audio CD files. There was a huge section of Sony Psyc D-EJ100 portable cd players in 2 colors. Black with lime green, and another one that was white with orange. I chose black and green.
//sound// I am very impressed with the sound on this cd player. The bass is deeper then the other Sony cd player, the treble is clear, and you hear everything, it's not muffled at all like some other portable cd players. Not only is it crystal clear, it can also get very loud. I wouldn't say deafening loud, but it would satisfy almost everyone. I have a wide range of music I listen to like stuff from Ozzy Osbourne to Dave Koz (jazz), and even to stuff like Rod Stewart, and all of it sounds great on my new Sony D-EJ100. I really couldn't ask for better sound quality. Plus, you can turn this thing almost all the way up without distortion.
//features// This thing is packed with features. Need a timer on your cd player that you can set from 5 to 95 minutes and it will turn off after that time, you got it with this one. I never seen a portable cd player do that. You can program up to 64 of your favorite tracks. You can repeat tracks over and over again, repeat the whole cd over and over again, and also, it has shuffle mode. It comes with h.ear headphone which are cool, have great sound quality, but I prefer street style headphones which I use, but the h.ear headphones are actually worth $10 since they are also sold in stores. It even comes with a remote control so you can control it when it's in your pocket. This cd player has 50 hours of battery life also. It even has G-Protection so your cd's will never skip. It's the best skip protection Sony ever made, so it won't skip when you jog, walk, and run with it, it won't skip even if you drop it although I don't reccomend it.
//design// This cd player is very lightweight, it is almost the same size of the cd and it's very slim and will not weigh down your pocket. There is also another color you can choose from that is white and orange, and the button are black. The black buttons are a little hard to see, but you can still understand what they control. They are much easier to see on the black and green one that I have, but either color looks great.
//is it worth it// If you don't need MP3/WMA capability then this will be fine. This plays CD-R/RW's, has a remote, cool colors, and is pefect for teens. Best Buy always has alot in stock. These are very popular, and I highly reccomend it.
Good luck with your decision
