Great portable CD player for the car!

Pros no skips; nice compact design; great sound
Cons backlight LCD only comes on if using direct power source (not batteries)
Recommended it? Yes
Let me start off by saying that this Sony CD player is an excellent investment for anyone who, like me, wants to be able to listen to CDs in an older car, but who doesn't want to spend lots of money investing in installing a new car CD/stereo system.

I have owned this product for more than 4 months now and it hasn't given me any trouble at all. I originally purchased it in anticipation of a long upcoming road trip to the Southwest. The sound quality is great! In addition to having all the standard features of a typical CD player (different play modes, shuffle, push-button volume control, etc.), it also has a battery level indicator, a bass boost button and even a volume limit option for your hearing protection. There's also a "hold" button to prevent any accidental pressing of function keys. Another nice feature is that the player resumes at exactly the point it was playing if you switch power sources, or if you stop the player and press play again--no more fumbling around to find a track after you gas up the car! This particular player was perfect for me because it came with a cassette adapter and an cigarette-adapter power supply, both of which I would have had to buy separately had they not come as a package.

I was in SE Utah, where not all roads are paved, and given these conditions, I expected the CD to skip. The G-protection never failed me once! I was very impressed. The battery power is also excellent: the 2 AA batteries lasted for more than 30 hours of play time. I've heard of complaints about CD players popping open, or not shutting completely after a while, but this one has given me no trouble. The CD player itself is barely larger than a CD and about 1" thick, so it's very slim and it's easy to find a spot for it in the car. It also comes with a handy carrying case that can be used when exercising, though I personally have not used my CD player in this capacity. The only drawback is that the display button doesn't light up unless you are using a DC power source; for nighttime driving, this means you'd have to use the cigarette-adapter to find a particular track.
