I bought this CD player about a month ago - I was traveling and "needed" to take music with me. I bought it in a hurry, because I tried to get something from Amazon, and it didn't arrive in time, so I went the Wiz and bought this off the shelf with no research.
It worked out fine. The controls are easy to use, even the "remote" - which I thought was a frill but turned out to be a useful addition. The player comes with both an A/C adaptor AND rechargeable batteries. The batteries recharge right in the player and last a good long time once charged. It has "G-Protection" - Sony's skip protection feature - I have noticed no skipping at all - so I guess G-Protection works.
The unit is also a nice stylish dark metallic gray.
It came with a ridiculous carrying case - it's hard to get the unit in the case, and once in, you can't change the disk, or get to many of the controls. Furthermore, the carrying case has a dorky hand strap - so why you'd want to use it at all is beyond me. A belt loop or shoulder strap would be more useful.
Also, it comes with "new-style" headphones - the ones that go behind your head. If you're walking down the street, I suppose they'd be okay, but if your head is cradled by the airplane seat (and every pillow in sight), those headphones don't work. Luckily, I had a pair of ear bud type headphones which I much prefer (for sound and smallness).
