Sony's "Slimshady" lacks in bass, but not the rest!

Pros Battery life above all, skip free, very slim!!!
Cons Sound is sacrificed; headphones don't help you with the bass...
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Cool look, great battery life, acceptable sound and wonderful usefulness: not bad, eh!?
I have to advise you I just listen to music every now and then, but besides this I'd like to obtain the best performances from my music players! What I consider, when I'm looking for such a tool are not technical characteristics, but also design, and usefulness.

What I appreciated almost immediately in this Cd walkman is its very original and skinny look: it looks unusual, but pretty cool, I find!
Then it's definitely practical for anyone who doesn't want to hold anything in his/her hands while walking around, since the remote consents you to put the unit in a normal coat pocket and clip easily the controller on your collar, for example: could you imagine something more suitable for hearing music while walking among THOUSANDS of people without losing any note of your favorite songs? Moreover the remote is very well endowed with a fabulous backlight helping you even in the most obscure situations (i.e. in the car)...
And while I'm writing of those many individuals you're moving through, please, consider also of bumping into them (it could happen!) and start smiling, because this Sony player never skips! Oh yes, you must acknowledge that among its advantages this nice walkman counts an excellent anti-skip feature too.
This time, Sony engineers have really done a good work as regards G-shock technology: I think it's ideal even in case you are going to jog or run.

Now, we need to spend a couple of words about batteries and sound, two arguments which seem to me to be strictly related.
The first thing you're probably going to notice when dealing with the above mentioned CD player is the extreme reliability of batteries and their incredible performance: I don't think to exaggerate stating that using about 2-3 hours a day, your alkaline will "survive" for more than one week!
Unfortunately there's a negative aspect, if we may call it so: most of the people who tried the D-EJ815 were not satisfied by the bass response of the player.
Many charged to the headphones the guilt. This is partly true, in the sense that Sony surely didn't pick the best ones available, making this on purpose, since people generally replace them with their preferred type and they could be willing to switch to earbuds too. Considering these instances, the engineers I wrote of, probably didn't believe it was worth that much losing time and wasting money on that gadget.
But what I also would point out is that Sony verily chose to "sacrifice" a little bit the quality of sound to improve incredibly battery duration. It's in fact well known that an amazing bass boost generally decreases in an evident way batteries' life.

Finally, as concerns this last point, we have to recognize the reliability and smartness of the modus operandi of this item: contrarily to what the majority of similar tools do, the D-EJ815 doesn't spin the CD the whole time, rather it loads about more than a minute of music in its memory, then it stops for several seconds.
This feature, besides preventing skipping, is also studied in order to save batteries.

Other peculiarities that may invite you to buy this device could be its aluminium case that could protect it in case of rain, its rechargeable capability and, last but not least, the price you could find it nowadays, especially on-line.

In conclusion,if you wish to experiment a good CD player at a good price, just go for it!
