Impressive, but a work in progress

Pros Slim and Light, Skip Protection, CD-Text
Cons Flimsy, External Battery Case for AA Batteries, Small Buttons, Color,
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Hey you want the most advanced portable CD player out there, I say go for it. However it could be better.
I equate Sony's new line of truly portable CD Players, to buying a new model car the first year it is produced. By this I mean it is nice to be the first to have one but it then dawns on you that the new model is far from perfect. The Sony D-EJ825 is Sony's latest attempt to create the first ?real? portable CD player. In many ways I feel Sony has succeeded: The slim design that fits in your pocket is a first while the ultimate skip protection seems endless (and hat is only in the G1 setting, the G2 setting skip protects even more) There are some nice extras such as CD-text which is not exactly necessary (considering no one really produces CD text CDs) but it is nice none the less, the remote is out of site though with headphones attached to the remote cord it creates a cord that seems to border on the 6 foot mark. The batteries provide for days of continuous listening but that is if you feel like lugging an external battery case along with all the other hardware. With only the rechargeable battery in place you get around 12-13 hours of listening time. Since skip protection is always on, there is no real way to conserve your batteries if you are listening to the unit while stationary. I can also foresee this little unit shattering if dropped on the ground one too many times, but that can be said about most CD players. I?m sure more colors are on the way since no seems to like the pretty purple color that lines the unit. Also at least on my unit the remote is not backlit, nor does the external battery case fit in the carrying pouch.
