Great player, great price (but now it's broken)

Pros Pretty good radio reception, nice design, good sound, great price
Cons Stinky headphones, awkward button layout, too many radio presets, it broke after four months
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For the low price, great look, excellent sound, and excellent features, I would definitely recommend this product, especially if you are looking for a good radio.
UPDATE: After having this player for about 4 months, I have to take it back. No matter what headphones I use, you can only hear out of one side of the headphones, unless you press down on the headphone jack at a certain angle, which is more than annoying. I'm taking it back and switching back to Panasonic, which I should hav edone in the first place. I don't know is this is a widespread problem; my brother has the same player but his is newer, so if it happens to his also I'll update again.

I needed a new player, and wanted one with a radio. I was going to stick with Panasonic, because the last one I had lasted two years, but couldn't find any with the features that I wanted that were actually available in the store. So I searched around epinions for a good player, and this one seemed to have pretty good reviews, so I bought it. I've had it a few weeks now, and I am definitely satisfied.

The cd player portion is great. The sound is good, with different headphones (the included ones are okay, but a little uncomfortable and awkward). The G-protection is the best I've ever used. Even with the protection off I've NEVER had the thing skip, so either this is a great cd player or the skip protection never actually turns off. I also like that the volume goes higher than on Panasonic, and I like to really blast my music.

The only thing I don't like about the player is the layout of the controls. I used to hold my Panasonic with one hand and be able to reach all the controls and the volume easily, but this one I can't do that with. The volume is on the bottom side of the cd player and the controls are located near the top, so you have to use two hands or turn the thin around to control the volume. I also wish it had a backlit display, but I won't ask too much.

I like that the player has a resume play that will turn on the cd exactly where you left off. I don't like that you can't turn the resume off, but that's not too annoying. The player makes a beeping noise when you press any buttons, which got really annoying really fast, but you can turn it off, which I promptly did.

The battery life is great. I got it two weeks ago and the battery display still says full. I really like having the radio feature so if I get sick of the cd I'm listening to I can listen to the radio instead. The reception is very good, even in my school bus. I can even get WAMO at my house well, which I can't even get on my boombox, so that's excellent. I have to say there are way too many presets, though...25 FM and 5 AM. I put every local radio station into my presets and still have 6 left.

The player is a little thicker than most due to the radio, but the size is overall very small and light. The design is nice and sharp, and the display is large. (PS, the picture of the cd player shown above and on the main page isn't a picture of the DFJ61...it's a different, more expensive player. Go to www.sony.com to see what the real one looks like.)

For $90, I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I hope it lasts me a while, because other than my last Panasonic, I've had bad luck with cd players. I would definitely recommend this player for its great price and great features.
