A player for the active one.
Pros
Water resistant, Radio.
Cons
Expensive and sound is only ok.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this player to anybody who needs a durable player for running, biking or other activities.
Intro
I bought this player a while ago at sonystyle.com. It cost about 150 with all the tax and shipping. I wanted this player because I have a pool and I don't want to have the fear of it getting wet. I am not going to submerge it because it is water resistant not water proof, but I won't have to worry about it being splashed. I have lots of CD players and I guess you could say I collect them. Well here is my review on the Sony D-FS18.

Looks... not your average cd player.
When you are looking through a store at 10's of CD players this one will catch your eye. As most water resistant and water proof products do, this CD player also contains yellow. It is definantly one of the most abstract looking of the CD players I have. Parts of the sides are rubber where your hand makes contact with the player. This is good and stops your hands from slipping and the hand band makes sure it won't fall off your hand.

Durability...The durability makes up for any cons.
The rather large and bulky size of this system helps contribute to the durabilty of it. The protective bushings, water resistant seals, and rubber gaskets make this player even more durable. They help seal out water, dirt and other debries. I found this very useful around the beach, or the pool, although I do not recommend sticking it in sand or water.

Skipping... None here, not with Sony's G-Protection.
Sonys G-protection is called the "second generation" in skip protection. For me, it definantly was second generation, I haven't heard one skip even though I have ran and rode a bike with it. I have to say that among other things, sony is definantly the leader in Skip prevention technology.

Batteries... Good batteries, hard to find.
The rechargable sony batteries that sony recommends are very good. They say they serve a play back time of 35 hours. I found it to be more clor to 30, but thats pletny of time for me, especially since they are rechargable.

Sound Quality... It is ok to pretty good.
Along with cd players I also have and mp3 player. Although nothing can beat the sound quality of an mp3 at 320kb/s, this is pretty good. As long as you have a good pair of headphones the sound on this CD player is superior to most.

Conclusion... A pretty cool player.
I feel that on this player sony got just the right mix of features for the active person. It has durability, but not to rugged that it doesn't have comfort. They also kept style in mind while working on durability.
