Sony hit a home run for me.
Pros
Great skip recovery, illuminated lights, and sound is great.
Cons
Shape is kind of clunky, auto resume sucks.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you want a high quality CD Player this one will not disappoint any skeptic.
Background story...
My previous CD player wasn't working properly so I figured I would go out and buy one worth my money. I had stumbled upon the Sony D-MJ95 and it was well worth the money, $160.00.
I got this CD player with the car ready setup, which includes the: tape adapter, the remote, and the power cord that plugs into your cigarette lighter.
That is pretty much all I use it for is in my car, and I drive a lot.
I hooked this bad boy up to my car in a matter of seconds and plugged in a CD. I noticed it produced a better sound then my old CD player. The only downside I noticed was that it took a while for it to spin-up to read the CD when you initially start it, but if you go to the next track it takes no time at all for it to read. I found out that is due to the G-Force Protection.
G-Force Protection?!!?! What is that you say it does?
We've all seen the boxes for these portable CD walkmans saying 5, 10, or 30 second Memory. Well those are all well and good, but I don't care about how far the CD player reads ahead! The G-Force Protection simply is a mode similar to the memory read but it is more powerful then any other read ahead technology I?ve ever seen.
I took my new Sony CD player and started shaking it around in my car like a mad man! Pedestrians must have thought I was going crazy, but it was for the sake of science I TELLS YA! I beat the crap out of that CD player for a period of 45 seconds and it didn't skip once. It's quite a great thing. It also takes nearly half of your batteries life to so if your sitting on a train or something you should disable it.
What else you say?
I had also wanted a CD player I can take on a hike or jog with and well... I was really disappointed with it for that aspect. Due to the clunky design; which is shaped like a CD itself, it easily shifts around when clipped to your pocket, which gets really annoying. I had actually dropped it once when I was jogging with my dog.
This is okay though since I don't believe the CD player was designed for jogging so I wasn't to upset with it.
My old CD player was also a pain in the neck for reading the LED display. Well kiss that good bye. Due to its light red background display and it's black signature it's easily readable, and if you're trying to figure out what song you're on and you in the dark, it always glows. Which is incredibly convenient.

If you decide to jog with this device you will also appreciate the HOLD feature which when activated will make sure that none of the buttons you accidentally push while you're on your jog will have any affect. I don't know how many times I've been running and I accidentally hit the stop button. It's nice to know that Sony was thinking of this feature for the consumer.
Auto Resume (When hooked up to a car.)
I was really quite disappointed with my old CD player but the one thing that it did beat on my new CD player was the fact that it would auto resume. I would drive to my girl friends house with me being in the middle of the CD, get out and come back in the car and it would pick up where it left off. Not with this CD player.
The funny thing about that was the fact that my old CD player was about 40 dollars and it was a Sony as well.
You'd think they would include a simple feature like that on this 160.00 CD player. But nope! It's the only real beef I have with this.
All in all...
I am pretty dang happy with this purchase. It was a little pricey but what isn't now days, though. It fulfills just about all my needs so I'm a pretty happy camper. :)
