Awesome cd player

Pros Good sound, very durable, water resistant, great sports cd player
Cons Headphones are awful
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This is a great durable cd player that is perfect for anyone
I just returned a Panasonic SL-SW940 portable cd player because I realized that it was not complely water resistant since I could see my cd spinning in a tiny part through the sides, and since water resistance is important to me, I need a player that I can trust and know that I don't have to worry about it getting broken by water damage.

//sound quality// The sound on this cd player is so full for being a portable cd player. The bass is there, the treble is crisp and clear, and not that much distortion at high volumes. It does lose a little bass when you blast it, but you won't really need to. There is plenty of volume and the sound is great at almost all volume levels. The headphones are another story, I'll get to that at the end of the review. I noticed that the sound on the D-SJ301 is noticabally better then the Panasonic SL-SW940. It sound great and is definitly loud enough even for people who want ear blasting music.

//design// this player is definitly like a tank! When I was trying to open the packaging, my face turned red. It was packed in that darn plastic so good, I almost passed out trying to rip it open. I didn't just get it open and take the cd player out. I ripped it open so hard that the cd player went flying out and hit the wall, bounced off my dogs crate and hit the floor. Works perfectly, plus no scratches. The cd player has a nice button layout, a small joystick control where you turn it on, skip forward tracks and go to previous tracks, and you press the joystick to turn it off. When you have the jogging strap attached you can control it with your thumb. Very easy to use. Plus the cd player is made with the most durable plastic I ever seen on a cd player, and it's very thick. The cd player is on the heavy side, but not to heavy to interfere with your jog. The batteries go in under the lid like most other cd players today, so you do not have to worry about your batteries falling out if you drop it. The LCD display is on top of the lid and is the clearest one I have seen. It is real easy to read, and is a little circle. There are also rubber plugs covering the headphone jack and adapter plug so water won't get inside the unit. There is also rubber lining that goes around the cd player to keep sand, water, and other particles out of the unit. There is one problem with the rubber lining is that the unit might not work at first so you have to make sure the rubber lining is in place. It is real easy to fix, and once you put it in, it will work fine.

//features// this cd player has more features then the other Sony's did in the past. it has repeat 1, repeat all, repeat shuffle, shuffle, 1 track mode, and 64 track programming so you can program up to 64 tracks and play them in the order you want it to. There is ALVS mode (auto volume limiting which I don't understand the purpose for. the limiter is way to low. It's featured on all sony portable cd players including my first one from 1998 which still works today. You can fast forward tracks, rewind them, there is a resume feature that starts exactly where you left off, there is 50 hours of battery life on 2 AA's which is amazing. G-Protection which is the best skip protection that you can get. It comes with an AC adapter, jogger grip and headphones, so it has plenty of features and comes with many things. I never had a cd player that came with an AC adapter except for my first cd player I ever bought, so this is a very rare feature to find.

//jogging with player// This cd player is very comfortable to use while jogging. It comes with a jogging strap that says S2 on it which looks really cool and has a white background that matches the player and headphones. This player is completly water resistant so you can jog in the rain, hail, snow, even a sand storm and nothing will get in the cd, since the lid is complely sealed.

//headphones// Ok these headphones just suck. The sound is decent but they never go in your ears and will always fall out, they look nice, and it was a cool design, but they don't fit many peoples ears, plus, they are so uncomfortable even when they get in your ears they still hurt like hell. Definitly replace these.

If you are wondering if this cd player is worth it, I think it is the best deal that you can find considering this player had a price cut and is now $69, when a year ago it was $99. This is an all around great cd player, and can handle drops, has a very sturdy design and will fit anyones needs unless you need AM/FM/WB/TV tuner then get the next model up. There is also one that they sell that has MP3 capability. Just remember to replace the headphones to a more comfortable pair, and also remember to make sure the rubber lining around the is in place or the player will not work right.

Good luck with your decision!
