A Bargain, Or Another Headache?
As a child born in the late 20th century (1984), I was a generation X?er. I am not ashamed; in fact I?m honored. I was born into the information age where we can send email, cell phone calls, and faxes around the world in seconds. New formats of music were introduced into this age as well. I?m sure... I Expected Better Than This From Sony
For years, I have owned a Sony Walkman that played only cassette tapes, and decided that it would be nice to own a portable CD player as well. I shopped around, and found the Sony D-191 on sale at Sears for around $70. Considering how well the Sony Walkman I have had for so long has held up, and... Read full review »
An exceptional player for the price
I had gotten some Record Town gift coins for my birthday. They were worth $60, and I went to record town, and I decided I needed another cd player, because to keep my good one at home, and to take my bad one around to listen, so if I ever lost my bad one, I would still have a player. When I went to... Read full review »
Should be called Sony Skipman
This is one of the older models, which I happened to get a few years ago.
Sony D-191 is the ancestor of the current ones that have anti-skip technology. Meaning, D-191 does not have this because nobody thought of it yet.
This was good at that time, but compared to anything...

Sony D-191: 3 Strikes.... It is gone....
I purchased one of these in November for my wife's birthday. She was pretty excited about it, because it was going to allow her to listen to some music while she was at work. I didn't spend too much on this. I didn't figure that I would need to since it was going to spend most of the time sitting... Read full review »
I really needed a pause after a while.
I got half of my Diskman as a birthday present from my parents.I paid for the other half. All of us are a bit of a cheapskate, in the great Dutch tradition:), so we wanted a relatively cheap one.
Anyway, this one was selling at about $50 and it was a Sony. I think somehow we thought buying...

A good buy
This CD player is pretty slick. It is very portable it looks stylish and high tec. You can hook it up to a car adapter for listening to it in the car or you can use plain old fashion batteries for those bus trips and at home. The AC adapter also works great. This CD player is small enough so that... Read full review »
Leave this in the box.
Disappointing is an under statement.
This CD player does nothing but skip. The sound quality delivered when it is not skipping is nothing to brag about. Sony definitely missed the mark when they produced this player. There is not much to say about the machines functions as it has all the...

Easily breakable Sony portable cd player
The Sony D-191 would be a great cd player if you were to just keep it in one place. The non pausing cd player offered good sound when held still, however when moved even slightly the player would skip like crazy. There were a few aspects that i did like: offered great sound, small and portable... Read full review »
Great CD Player
I love my CD player. I've had it for at least 3 years and it still works great. The craftsmanship and quality of the CD player is amazing.I can't tell you what I've put it through, yet it stills plays music nearly perfect. It rarely skips, it takes a lot to get it to skip.
Although, it...

Sony D191 Discman Portable CD Player
This CD player comes with headphones and an AC adapter. A menu button allows for normal play, repeat play (all tracks), single track play, repeat play for a single track, and repeat shuffle play. The volume, which is controlled by plus and minus buttons, can be enhanced with a Mega Bass switch to deliver a more powerful bass sound. An automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) function can be used to limit the maximum volume for hearing safety. A hold switch locks the buttons to prevent accidental button presses. The LCD display shows the track, track time, and play mode, and indicates when the Mega Bass, hold, and AVLS functions are on.
