Overall it's great, after you get used to the quirks.

Pros Great sound and price. Wires all color-coded for easy set-up.
Cons Bass is too loud. Slow, noisy changer.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Size of unit/speakers is ideal for an apartment, but the bass is too loud. Changer is noisy/slow, but overall great to connect all your toys.
I've owned this unit for a year now and I am, overall, happy with it. Originally what attracted me to it was the tiny speakers (and how they complimented my small apartment) and the compact dvd player and receiver unit, which is the same size as most vcr's. One annoyance with using this in an apartment is that the subwoofer controls on the receiver do not allow for much range. It's either loud bass or louder bass with this one. Why Sony hasn't included a simple level knob on the subwoofer, as my cheap computer speakers do, is beyond me. That said, this is better suited for someone with a house. In order to avoid the wrath of my neighbors, I've duct taped a pillow to the subwoofer's speaker and stuffed a pillowcase in the front vent and still it seems excessive when watching certain programming. A couple reviews commented on this system not having much power -- do they live in a warehouse? It makes me worry about the noise all the time. I can't wait for a bigger apartment where I can really here this. The sound is amazing and it has enough ports to allow my GameCube and Digital Cable box to be connected and share in the surround experience.

The disc changer is noisy and slow. It should have a fan since it has overheated once after a long film. It gets so warm it has an unpleasant odor now, when it has been on for a little while. The menus could have been easier, better organized and shown on-screen (for some reason the sound levels menu is just on the display on the unit and make little sense). Just try reading the labeling on the remote if your eyesight isn't 20/20.
