The Bottom Line:
I think it's comparable with other systems on the market and a pretty good deal for $600. Just don't expect it to be a top quality system.
We bought this system back in April, 2002. We bought it because a friend had a Sony system and it sounded fairly good for an all in one home theatre system. It was also on sale. We thought it would be most convenient to buy a system that was pre-built than trying to assemble one ourselves. Well, it was very easy to put together. The whole system works reasonably well but sounds worse than the Panasonic system I had before. It also isn't very good at not being flustered by DVD layers. Screen always breaks apart about half way through any movie for a second. I guess progressive scan on the newer models would have solved that problem. Also, the sound isn't very good if you are trying to play music on it. It sounds artificial and lacks the richness of even good small component systems. The remote is also very poorly designed. It's supposed to have flourescent back lighting but I can't see anything without the lights. I am a young person too. Oh well. I guess it performs about as expected for a small all in one home theatre system. By the way, AM and FM reception is very poor and it's definitely better for movies, not music.
