Good system, great value, one caveat

Pros Great sound, great picture, it's a Sony!
Cons Disk changer is flawed, remote is confusing, unit generates lots of heat.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Many reviewers complain about the changer, had I known I would have avoided. Knowing it's shortcomings, I am quite pleased overall.
I'm in my 40's now and don't need/want a super loud stereo. Our old receiver gave up the ghost and my wife jumped at the chance to get rid of all that equipment and those huge speakers in favor of a small Home Theater System that plays CD's. I bought this based on how the system sounded on the sales floor and the Sony name.

Setup was a breeze. System is loud enough, but if I were in my late teens/early 20's again, it would not be. For movies the surround sound is great. The DVD player works fine, but the remote is has so many tiny buttons with even smaller print. In dim lighting (how else do you watch TV?) I can't read the remote.

The problem we have had is the unit holds 5 DVD/CD's through one slot. You need press a button to change the position, then load your disc. On two occasions the unit became confused. Once it got hung up and tried to eject two discs at once, once it jammed trying to change from one disk to another. I was able to get the unit working again both times, but now I am very careful how I use it. My wife will only load one disk at a time, play it, eject it, then load another. I think it has something to do with trying to load multiple disks while another one is playing, but I am not about to test that theory. The changer section of the unit is flawed, it is far from idiot-proof.
