Sony Handycam DCR-PC9 Mini DV Camcorder

This is the mid-model year replacement for the DCR-PC5. I was suprised to see it come into our store. I studied the camera, and learned that it pretty much the same as the DCR-PC5. Except that it has a blue tone to it, and has better battery life. This is the only Mini_DV camera from sony that can fit in your pocket, its amazing. The picture quality is astounding for such a small camera. We can't keep these cameras in stock, they are flying off the shelves. The brand new literature from Sony, for the new camcorder lineup which is being debuted in late June did not even include this camera, thats how new it is, it only had the DCR-PC5. You can't use intelligent shoe accesories with this camera, which is not too great for people who like zoom microphones and such, but consumers that want this camera are not looking to produce movies, they are looking for an ultra-compact solution to having a Digital Video camera and Digital Still camera. Women can keep it in their purse easily, and men could put it in a semi-large pocket. Don't get a really large battery, because it would upset the ergonomcis of this camera, and the weigh/balance of the camera, besides, it would look funky. Get an extra 2.5 hour battery, not anymore. The 4 mb stick is not adequate for people who take alot of still pictures, get a 32 mb or a 64 mb stick. This camera also adds the USB connectivity which makes it much easier to connect to your computer and transfer digital still pictures. This camera is very easy to use, touch screen is not those with wide fingers, the touch screen buttons are kind of small. But it sitll makes the menu operation easier than anything before it. Go with this camera for its small size and excellent picture quality.
