Pros Very light and small camera, widescreen mode, two sound modes
Cons Fairly short battery life, zoom not very impressive for the price
Recommended it? Yes

I have always been a fan of Sony products, so I was not concerned when I chose the Sony DCR-PC9 as my next digital camcorder. My main reason for buying this camcorder was its low weight and small size. After using it for a couple of months now, I am thrilled beyond words.

Things I liked... Read full review »

Pros Compact, light, MiniDV.
Cons Expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

Built around the fairly recent MiniDV tapes, which are about the same size as mini-cassette audio tapes, the Sony DCR-PC9 is extremely compact and lightweight, taking up somewhat more room than a package of cigarettes and weighing slightly more than one pound. This camcorder would appeal... Read full review »

Pros Nice video, 640 x 480 stills, and MPEG. And ohhh ... so small.
Cons Almost too small for big hands. A little over priced.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the US version of the camera at the Ultimate Electronics. I wanted a local dealer that I could take it back to instead of having to ship it to some no name place across the country. I have also heard rumors that the International (Grey market) version has had a high return rate. The US... Read full review »

Pros Great picture. Touch screen controls. VERY COMPACT!!
Cons Pricey, about $1400. No intelligent shoe.
Recommended it? Yes

This is the mid-model year replacement for the DCR-PC5. I was suprised to see it come into our store. I studied the camera, and learned that it pretty much the same as the DCR-PC5. Except that it has a blue tone to it, and has better battery life. This is the only Mini_DV camera from sony that can... Read full review »

Pros outstanding video quality, size, portability, features, touch screen lcd
Cons poor quality of still pictures, awkward placement of key buttons
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony DCR-PC9 is Sony's latest and smallest MiniDV camcorder to date and they've done a pretty good job of it.

Most people buy camcorders for one thing, recording videos. And boy does this camera excel at it, the quality of video is just astounding, with rich, vibrant colors. Hook... Read full review »

Sony Digital Camcorder: Small, small, small!

Pros Small, lightweight, picture clarity
Cons bad zoom, too small, short battery life, fairly pricy, no still camera or auto focus
Recommended it? No

The big picture
Sony has created yet another asumingly beautiful looking piece of electronics. The digital camcorder is small, lightweight and attractive, but the accesories, quality, tinyness don't add up to...the price.

Tiny, simply just small
This camcorder is tiny. It's just... Read full review »

Pros light and easy to carry, great video pictures, nice design
Cons could have better battery life, Sony Memory Stick
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony camcorder is a nice little camera that shoots video as well as digital still pictures.

This is a camera that I do not personally own. I was asked to shoot video at a christening I recently attended, and Dad owned the DCR-PC9.

I love playing with the new digital... Read full review »

Perfect for video artists, excellent, reliable, hi-quality

Pros solid and compact, tough metal body. Feature reach, manual controls. Selective shutter...
Cons Can't selectively turn off LCD icons. No assignable physical dials/buttons.
Recommended it? Yes

I'll get straight to the point. There's enough manual controls and settings to get original, white-balanced, well exposed, filmic smooth footage from this very compact camera. I use the custom shutter speed of 25fps to get that film look while retaining resolution. Switching to 16:9 recording mode... Read full review »

Pros Quality Video/Sound, Great Features/Functions, better than Average Battery, NightShot
Cons Construction feels a lttle cheap, poor ergonomics, poor stills,
Recommended it? Yes

I originally did extensive research on the ?vertical palm size? mini-DV camcorders and narrowed my decision down to the Sony DCR-PC9, the Canon Elura 20MC and the JVC GR-DVM75. Let me tell you that this was an extremely difficult evaluation because all three cameras have their strengths and... Read full review »
