Sony Digital Camcorder: Small, small, small!
Pros
Small, lightweight, picture clarity
Cons
bad zoom, too small, short battery life, fairly pricy, no still camera or auto focus
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Not recommended
The big picture
Sony has created yet another asumingly beautiful looking piece of electronics. The digital camcorder is small, lightweight and attractive, but the accesories, quality, tinyness don't add up to...the price.
Tiny, simply just small
This camcorder is tiny. It's just small, petit, minuscule...oh...did I mention it was small? Yup, just a single pound, yes, only 1 pound! Some people would actually have trouble holding it because their hands might be to big, or the buttons too close together to easily press them individually.
Picture quality
Sony has finally got one thing right, when it eventually comes down to it you are only going to watch if it has great quality, and for the most part they have succeeded. The resolution is an outstanding 680 000 pixels, and it also has a digital zoom of up to 120x, or 10x optical zoom. Their is a beautiful color picture in both the viewer and the LCD screen. Only one warning the LCD screen uses an absolute ton of battery power!
Battery Life
Battery life for the camcorder is less than exceptional, infact it's donwright lowsy. In only a couple of hours it powers down. The batteries diminish much, MUCH faster with the LCD screen, but thats still unacceptable.
Fairly Pricey
Although their are many models that are much more expensive, don't expect a good deal on this one. It still won't end up at your own home without at least $700 of hard earned money. This models also happens to use Mini DV recording records, which aren't exactly items easy to at WallMart, and dramitically increase the costs in future use.
Still Camera and Autofocus
Well, quite simply non-existant. Their is no handy little still camera that can take simple snap shots. Although it does record in mpeg which is viewable from most computers, these files are enormous (1000s of times bigger) than the simple photo, that you might want to send to other family members. And obviously no autofocus isn't the most preferred specification.
All in All
I would have to say that I wouldn't recommend Sony Camcorder because of the already stated reasons. I hope my review will be of help to you.
