VX2000 audio fatally flawed
Pros
Great image quality.
Cons
Tragic audio quality. Makes an otherwise fine product unsatisfactory and unusable.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Sony's refusal to acknowledge and fix the hiss problem has turned this life-long Sony customer into an ex-customer. Don't let Sony rip you off.
Don't buy a VX2000. The audio "hiss" problem makes the device useless. Pity, because in other respects the camera is very good.
Checkout http://www.sonytheft.com and do a web search for "VX2000 Hiss".
Sony have got some spin about the fault on their website but it's a complete fudge. Compare manual level audio with any similar camera or even the VX2000's obsolete predecessor the VX1000 and it isn't even close. It's like listening to Radio Moscow on shortwave radio on a bad afternoon. We're very disappointed Sony are being so dishonest about the whole issue.
Sony are completely unhelpful. They fixed the identical PD-150 which suffers the same problem but refuse to help "consumers" with the VX2000. We will never buy Sony again.
