Excellent CD-Player
Pros
Classy chrome-like buttons, features found on more expensive CD Players.
Cons
G-Protection still skips. Sound degradation until bass is reset.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I'd recommend this CD Player to anyone that's interested in paying alittle more for something that doesn't play MP3's, but is still an awesome performer.
This CD player is an excellent buy. I got this as a Christmas present on 2001, and now (Dec. 2002), it looks as if the day I opened it (thanks in part of the included case). I do however, question Sony's choice for its sound system. When I turn on the unit every time, and this goes for all sony CD players, the sound quality isn't going its full potential, but when I reset the bass it sounds subtly better (more treble response). Other than that minor flaw, it performs unlike any other CD player I had in the past. I previously had a Panasonic CD player, and they sound good, but Sony's seem to have more bass. For some reason, my Panasonic skipped for no reason at all despite its claim "skip free". Questioning Sony's G-Protection, its claim that it doesn't skip isn't neccessarily true, because when I walk home from school and the player is in my pocket, it skips. Okay, so maybe it has 2 flaws. Questioning its durability. The paint job is too nice, and it looks too classy to have a major bump or scratch so i'd suggest you use the carrying case. Battery life? I think somewhere in this CD player lies a nuclear reactor because it goes a month of daily use before I need to change the batteries, and even then, it's at half way. My Panasonic went 2 weeks before it completely went dead for comparison. Ease of use? It's like operating a playskool marker, you push "play" to play and "next track" to change songs and "sound" to increase bass. Portability is o.k. on this cd player...It's a little longer than my panasonic but way thinner. To conclude, this is a CD player for those who like Class and Reputation in a package for under 100 bucks.
