great CD Walkman

Great sound and bass, longest battery life, great G-Protection shock memory, excellent earphones
Cons
remote (canadian version), no NiMH provided batteries, only NiCad, can't play CD-RWs

The Bottom Line:
Instead of purchasing an MD Walkman, this CD Walkman rocks with great sound and versatility.
Bought D-EJ725 as a replacement to my broken Panasonic SL-SX270 CD player...as soon as I turned it on using the remote, I was amazed on how it sounded. Since it had digital volume and digital mega bass, there was virtually no distortion...much like listening to a Sony MD Walkman. Although the optical output isnt useful for me at the time being, I am really amazed on how the CD Walkman sounded so crystal clear.
The G-Protection is exceptional! Sony has done it again, and I really like this anti-shock feature that beats others in the dust. For one thing, if it has good batteries, it will not skip for over a minute! But in normal use it just wont skip, only if I constantly bang onto it and it wont skip for 45-55 sec. Turn it off and you'll get better sound, but it wont be noticeable. Overall, G-Protection is the best anti-skip system ever in a CD player.
One thing I didnt like was the remote provided...sure it is very convenient, but I wished it would have the LED remote on the Japanese model D-E777, but the remote is very small, fits with my thumb so i can just press the buttons using my thumb. I have my own NiMH batteries and I rarely use the NiCad batteries provided by Sony, and the player gives me 22-30 hrs of playback time, quite acceptable. But I do like the maximum 86 hours of playback, making this player the longest playing CD Walkman in the world...and I dont know why Sony aint making a big deal about it. It even beat the Panasonic SL-CT780's 83 hr playback time!
Sony claims it can play CD-RWs, surely it can play CD-Rs but not CD-RWs...I tried it, and it wont play the rewritables...if anyone would be able to play CD-RWs, please tell me. For one thing, I wish i have an MD Walkman, but too expensive...the optical and CD-Text capability is just very excellent if I were able to use them...otherwise the optical output would be useful in the future.
Sound is just great. Again, it is very comparable to an MD Walkman...hey, its Sony, its supposed to sound great! Put the bass to maximum, turn on G-Protection, and jog with great sound pumping out of the Fontopia earphones. The G-Protection sometimes skips IF you're running out of batteries, otherwise I am having no problems regarding the G-Protection feature. The CD Walkman is quite heavier than most CD players in the price range of $200 Canadian...but then I dont care, cause this CD player pumps out great sound! I'd highly recommend it over Panasonic CD Players...obviously Sony has learned a lot since they invented the CD Walkman...
