Sony G520 - Great monitor

Pros Beautiful display, visually attractive, Sony quality.
Cons Price, damper wires, signal interference, requires monitor fan.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great monitor, you get what you pay for. G420S may be a better buy since it has same tube for $100 less. Highly recommended.
Ok I think I'm gonna cry, I just wrote a huge review and I lost it when I hit the back button.

Basically this is a great monitor. Only problems I've had are signal interference from the cheap cable (buy a different cable), damper wires are annoying, instructions manual doesn't list modes, it loses my settings when I turn it off and I have to resize the screen (only on non-standard modes, for instance Quake, not desktop), runs hot I recommend buying a cooler to extend life.

The only "major" problem I've had is the signal interference which I hope to remedy with the new Monster cable which is coming soon. The one that comes with this pathetic and my old 12" cable was better. I guess they figure whoever has money to buy one of these will a) already have a expensive cable b)buy one separately.

The picture quality is fantastic as everyone else has mentioned. When my brother or other people walk in my room they see the monitor from and angle which looks awesome because of the flat screen and they always complement it. It also looks great from in front of course and is very easy on the eyes.

The back of the monitor is very unique and "alien spaceship" looking. :) It has plenty of space for stuff on top, like a center speaker, or a web cam. I also recommend putting a monitor fan on this puppy because it gets hot (my guess would be 110* and it's still winter). 3dcool.com has one (I just ordered it).

To be honest, if you are low on money, you could get a 19" and wouldn't notice a huge difference because the right hand side of my monitor is always empty because I'm so used to smaller monitor and Netscape etc automatically open to standard sizes LOL. For watching movies though which is what I do a lot (over 300 divx movies) it is great.. Paired with my Klipsch Promedia 5.1s it is QUITE nice.

In conclustion, this is a great monitor if you have the money. You can't go wrong. (Tip For $100 less though the G420S offers the same tube and resolution without the picture effect button and dual inputs. Even though they say it supports a lower resolution it will do 2048x1536 and I know people that have confirmed this. Strangely my instructions manual does not mention the modes at all. I think the max resolution may be a marketing gimmick.)
