Great Drive, Rotten Software
Pros
External Firewire and USB1 or 2 Many Formats Sony Reliability
Cons
Requires Power Source Veritas RecordNow Poor Slower than internal More expensive Can't Burn ISOs
Recommended it?
No
I should have waited to buy this drive. I paid way too much for it. It is exactly what I wanted, however. This burns any type of DVD or CD and works through two types of firewire interfaces as well as USB 2.0. I have USB 1 at home and it worked fine as well. I almost wish I had gotten a lower-end model of another brand though because Veritas RecordNow DX doesn't burn ISO images to CD. It hangs there at the end and freezes up the computer. It boasts to be compatible with Mac although I have not tried it.
Includes DVD-Menu authoring. It is able to make -RW media compatible with your regular DVD drives. External is great... works on USB 1 or 2 or firewire
Pros
-Every Format under the sun. External.
-Works on Firewire or all the way back to USB 1.
-IS FAST (faster than my computer can feed it data)
-Includes lots of software.
Cons
-The ULX would have come with a disk
-Requires its own AC power source
-No MAC software
-You need a PHD to sort through the mess of all the formats and software options
