The Bottom Line:  A Perfect camera for couples where he wants features and she wants simplicity.
I have had a great experience with this camera. I did a lot of research to determine the camera I wanted and I dicided to get the Sony DSC-P93.

This is a camera for couples. I'll explain. I wanted a camera I could do all kinds of cool stuff with. I like the extra features, bells, and whistles. HOWEVER, My wife wanted a camera that was small and easy to use (aka point and shoot).

This camera was more than a FANTASTIC middle ground, It was not a compromise at all because neither one of us had to give anything up. This gives her all she wanted and me all that I wanted. AND ALL FOR $349. It can be put on a setting that is a simple point and shoot that takes great pictures for her. Or I can mount it on a tripod and do more advanced things. Like adjust shutter speed, set a timer, mess with the apature, use effects, adjust for different lighting, etc. In the past, Features like shutter speed were usually only found on high dollar cameras.

This camera has some other neat features I will share with you. It has the ability to shoot 640X480 video clips in 30 frames per second. Folks, this may be a memory hog BUT I'll tell you this. That video has about 100 more lines of resolution then my digital camcorder. Digital Camcorders bring in 500 to 550 lines of resolution. This has 640. I have done some expirementing and on average a one minute video is about 90 megs. So While this takes outstanding video, the video does take a lot of room. You should consider a larger memory stick if you want to shoot video.
For $129 I was able to get a 512 mb memory stick pro. This allows for 188 of the Fine quality pictures at the 5 megapixle setting or several minutes of the video.

Batteries are AA. It comes with rechargable Ni-Mh batteries that last for 210 minutes or 410 pictures if they are fully charged. If you are in a crunch for time and dont have a chance to charge the batteries you can use regular old AA's. They wont last as long as the Ni-mh but you will not miss that special event you need your camera for.

I feel that the picture quality is EXCELLENT. I was suprised to see the other reviews say that it was sub par. I have a friend that has the Sony 717 modle which is that really nice sony digi cam with the long lens (professional looking) and my camera takes pictures every bit as good as his camera. I believe that camera sells for $599 to $700.

I highly recommend this camera or its little brother the DSC-P73. The 73 has all the same features but its only a 4.1 megapixle and saves you only $50. For $50 I'd take the step up in quality to this one.
