Sony Should Be Embarassed
Lets say you were the first individual on the planet to invent a machine that would hold and play 400 DVD/CD's. Aside from quality sound and playback, what would be the most important feature for an electronic device that stores and plays 400 DVD/CD's or 400 of any media for that matter?

Terrible user interface made me send it back
I have been using a 300 disc Pioneer DV-F727 for the last 3 years. I love it! However, it is not progressive scan, and I am about to run out of space, so I was excited to see Sony come out with a 400 disc progressive scan model. My excitement diminished greatly once I tried to actually use it,... Read full review »
Works great!
My only regret is not getting it sooner! At the time of purchase (yesterday) I had about 160 DVD's that were watched an average of 1.1 times in their lives because it is a pain to stand there swapping out DVD's in the single DVD player.
This thing sets up really easy when you attach a ps2...

Pros Outweigh Cons
I bought this unit a couple of weeks ago, having read lots of negative and positive comments. It was under $300.
I agree with most of the cons that have been mentioned, however the thing neatly holds 400 discs and is the cheapest brand-name player in this category. There is a good array...

400 Disc DVD Owners with A/R Organizational Needs BEWARE!!
I'll bypass all the wonders as described by the other exceptional spec reviews previously posted and cut right to the chase. All pure video and audio needs of the average Home Theater Enthusiast are more than met in this hefty little $400 unit. BUT...if you're with me this far you obviously want... Read full review »
Okay but not the best solution and can be frustrating
I purchased this unit earlier this summer and refrained from commenting on it with the hope that use would take the edge off my initial impressions. No such luck...
Present audio/video components include:
Denon AVR 3803 (retired Denon 3300 and Sony 925)
Boston Acoustics...

mixed good and bad - a lot of bad
The CX985 is a great way to have quick access to 400 disks but with some serious drawbacks, most notably in ease of use and quality of playback.
The standalone Sony does not interface with a PC or network for easy update of the disk info and has an incredibly painful method of manually...

Consider Pioneer First
Pioneer and Sony make the only DVD jukeboxes available at this time. I've had a Sony DVP-CX985U for about a year and a Pioneer DV-F727 for about a month. This was a costly learning experience for me.
The Sony has a major problem: It don't read so good. Probably about 5% of the time it...

Great Changer with Some Quirks
Having over 300 DVDs in my collection, I was looking for a unit that could hold all my DVDs for quick access.
I have owned two CD-only changers previously - a 300 disk Pioneer unit and a 400 disk Sony Changer unit. I still have the Sony CD Changer for audio CDs (CX400) and it's a great...
