The Bottom Line:
Maybe I just got a bad unit, but this thing seems to have issues. It's all hardware inside so any fixes require parts being replaced by Sony directly (read: slowly).
I bought this player because it wasn't missing a single feature I was looking for and cost about a third what I expected to spend. I found out why:
1. The player freezes occasionally and must be unplugged from the wall to get it to respond.
2. If I turn on subtitles on a movie like Pearl Harbor and then turn them off, in the sequences when translations are printed on the screen, I get French subtitles across the top of the screen.
3. During High action sequences, it loses sync with the television and takes a second to re-establish the signal.
It's back with Sony for warranty services (Best Buy says it will be about another month) so we'll see how it goes.
