Pros Excellent picture quality, connections, TV control on the remote, features, CD-R, CD-RW,...
Cons Price could be lower, no WMA, no zoom, few scan speeds
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony DVP-NS715P is cheaper than its predecessor (NS700P) and features progressive scan with 2:3 pulldown. It continues Sony?s tradition of pricing their products higher than competition and is more expensive than Panasonic RP62.

Pros Smooth progressive-scan, excellent quality, reads CD/DVD, CDR/CDRW And MP3
Cons No Zoom... not much else. A player with all the features for less$$
Recommended it? Yes

Finally - Sony has answered all our wishes and has stepped up to the plate adding some extremely nice features into a player that is actually priced cheaper than the one it replaces, the NS700P, which I reviewed earlier:

With the purchase of a new HD projection TV, I knew I'd be updating my old DVD (a Sharp DV-650U) as well. After looking at a variety of models, I went with this Sony unit for several reasons.

This is essentially the "next years" model of the very highly regarded DVP-NS700P player. It... Read full review »

Pros looks, performance, engineering, PRICE!!
Cons none!
Recommended it? Yes

I recently bought the Sony DVP-NS715P to replace my Pioneer MB345 ($380) and even though it is half the price, the Sony outperforms it, and most other DVD players. First, off, the majority of all progressive scan DVD players out right now are well over $200-$300. Now pick out the ones that play... Read full review »

I recently bought the Sony DVP-NS715P to replace my much more expensive Toshiba SD5700 ($399 MSRP) and even though it it half the price, the Sony outperforms it, and most other DVD players, significantly. First, off, the majority off all progressive scan DVD players out right now are well over... Read full review »

So, no bologna...there I was...buying another DVD player because my last one finally did what I thought it might do (see my other Sony reviews). I was happy to have put up the money for insurance at Circuit City after my 2 DVD players back experience. I jumped through many hoops to finally return... Read full review »

I got this player as a replacement for my old Apex player. I recently bought a widescreen television and wanted a progressive scan player.

FINALLY, AN INEXPENSIVE PROGRESSIVE SCAN DVD PLAYER FROM SONY WORTH PURCHASING

Pros Finally, a inexpensive version of the old DVP-NS700P that plays MP3,DVD-R/RW
Cons I hope it is more durable than the Sony DVP-S363 that I am replacing!
Recommended it? Yes

I finally decided not to upgrade my Sony S363 to a progressive scan model until it broke last week. Despite the 5 year warranty I had on the model, I decided to check out the dvd players at the Good Guys and to see if the Sony DVP-NS700P dropped in price. This is a player that I was eyeing on for... Read full review »

Pros MP3 feature, Progressive scan, Component outputs, price
Cons Player freezes, Loses sync with monitor in high action sequences, subtitle quirks
Recommended it? No

I bought this player because it wasn't missing a single feature I was looking for and cost about a third what I expected to spend. I found out why:

1. The player freezes occasionally and must be unplugged from the wall to get it to respond.

2. If I turn on subtitles on a movie... Read full review »
