My experiences with the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD

Pros Easy to set up and use.
Cons Another remote to keep track of.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I bought the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD for basic movie viewing and so far, it has been a great machine!

Okay, I was a bit worried about writing reviews on any of our DVD players since I am not really sure what all the bells and whistles are, let alone how they work! To tell you the truth, my children can (and do) use all the different features our DVD players offer, while I am content to be able to put the movie in, pause it if I need to, and then be able to remove it once the movie is over! I can honestly say I have no desire to watch parts of the movie in different languages, see how the stunts were done, watch interviews with the actors, play a game or enjoy any other "extra" features the DVD comes with. I just want to see the movie! With that being said, I can tell you that I have the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD player and have never had a single problem with it.

USING IT AT MY HOUSE

I bought the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD player for my bedroom. We have a VHS player in there but we have been buying more and more DVD's and it was time to add a machine in the bedroom so I wouldn't have to unhook one from downstairs, bring it upstairs and rehook it every time I wanted to watch a DVD only to have to unhook it and then reset it up downstairs again after I was done.

It is hooked up to a 32 inch Sony brand TV and while we don't watch movies every night, we do watch them weekly. Last month, it was moved to my daughters room (while she recovered from the chicken poxs) where it was played on and off every day for a week. Besides watching the movie, she likes to do all the "extras" especially playing the little games and going to a specific part and changing the languages ~ over and over and over! She also played her CDs and MP3s in it. After a week, I just hooked it back up to my TV and again, it worked great.

SETTING UP

One really great thing about the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD is that is it so easy to set up and use! As with all players, you simply connect the videos and audio cords (supplied) and plug it in. The manual has pages of options for users that have elaborate systems but if you are just hooking it up to your TV it is fast and easy.

To set up the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD they have a quick set up feature which runs you through the steps via your TV screen. After selecting the language you wish to use, you are walked through the set up. The whole thing takes but a few minutes, the only thing we used from the custom setup was the auto power off which causes the machine to turn itself off after being in the stop mode for 30 minutes.

USING THE SONY DVP-NS725P

The remote has 28 different options and takes 2 AA batteries to operate. I don't use all 28 but the ones I do use are easy to locate and push. The ON button is the top right button with the volume (+/-) buttons right under it. The play, pause and stop buttons are located about 2/3 of the way down and are all in a row. If I needed to use any of the other buttons, I'd have to check the manual or ask one of the kids :-)

If you have lost the remote (or have dead batteries) you can do most functions from the Sony DVP-NS725P itself ~ you can turn the machine on and off, open (and close)the disk tray, pause, stop and move the movie forward or back.

~~**~~**~~**2BUZY'S FINAL THOUGHTS~~**~~**~~

As I mentioned, I bought the Sony DVP-NS725P Standard DVD player for my bedroom. Therefore it is not played on a daily basis and is normally ran by adults. While I acknowledge that those two points alone would extend the life of ANY machine (especially at my house)I only have GOOD things to say about this DVD player!
