Good name... so-so phone...

Pros inexpensive, lightweight
Cons hard to use, small display, not very durable, short battery life
Recommended it? No
I sell Voicestream Wireless service and of course that means that I carry the Ericsson 768.

When a customer asks me about the phones I sell and I come to the Ericsson 768, this is what I tell them. Most people like the Ericsson 768 phone because it is so small. It weighs about 4 ounces . It has the flip which some people like because you can flip the phone closed and not have to worry about the phone dialing someone by itself. Unfortunately, that flip is not very durable. I have seen many times where a customer has brought me their phone and we have had to call the warranty company to get them a new phone because the flip has broken.

Most Ericsson phones have a slightly stronger signal than most other manufacturer's phones. But as always, where the battery is concerned, it is not the best at all. You have about 200 minutes of talk time and about sixty hours of standby time. Not good at all. Most other phones have a much greater battery life. For someone that will use a wireless phone for business or as their primary phone, I never recommend the Ericsson 768. They would have to charge the phone constantly and for some (myself included) it is a hassle. Also, this phone is incapable of the vibrate mode. No matter which battery you put on it, this phone will not vibrate. So if you need a phone that has a silent mode, this is not the phone for you.

Where the Ericsson 768 really suffers is it's a rather difficult phone to use compared to most other wireless phones. The display is smaller and a little harder to read. The menus are difficult to get in and out of and a little complicated.

Where the Ericsson 768 soars is it's price. It is an inexpensive phone. So if you are looking for a phone with very little money out of pocket, you can get this phone for a good bargain.

I usually recommend the Ericsson 768 to someone that is thinking of getting a wireless phone just for emergencies. They will not use the phone for business. Maybe just to tell their significant other they will be late or to check up on the kids. If you are going to use your phone for much else, they I say get a different phone.
