Wonderful Concept and Excellent Phone

Pros Easy to use, multiple functions, low cost
Cons none that I am aware of
Recommended it? Yes

Since I commute to work, I felt it would be a good idea to be able to maintain contact with home and the kids while I am on the road. I started out with a pager, which worked fine for a little while but I could not call home or receive messages except for those preprogrammed into the pager.

A friend introduced me to the digital pre paid phone concept several weeks back.
I found a local Powertel dealer that had some specials running on various cellular and digital phones. I decided to purchase the Ericsson CF 768 model.

I chose this model because of its price, size, and capabilities.

Price - The phone itself was $29.99, which I felt, was reasonable for a portable phone. In addition to the phone I had to pay another $20.00 for the setup fee. Again, I felt this was reasonable. The particular phone I purchased came with $45.00 of free pre paid air time (about 128 minutes). Additional cards can be purchased in ranges from $10 up to $120.

Size - This phone is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It fits conveniently in my pockets as well as coming with an optional belt clip. It is a flip phone and when fully extended is about 6-7 inches long.

Capabilities - Where do I begin? This phone has so many options that I am still learning all the things that it is capable of doing. Some include: Fax, Analog paging, Voice mail, A specific function showing time used including incoming and outgoing, Phone book, speed and memory dialing, capabilities to change/edit the ring melody including entering your own melody. These are only a few of the options, there are too many to list.

My favorite function is the analog paging capabilities. I can enter messages using the keypad and send them to any analog pager or phone with analog capabilities. This is convenient when I am at work and can not receive phone calls. I can receive detailed messages as well as reply to those messages received.

When I work nights it is nice to be able to send messages to my spouse regarding homework, bedtimes as well as telling the kid's goodnight and I love you. It allows me to keep in touch with my family while away and do those things I miss while at work.

The plan I use is pre-paid, which allows me to control how much I spend on the calls. If I choose to not use the phone for a month, I could simply place it in the drawer and not be hassled with getting a bill for times when I do not use the phone.

Who should use this phone? Moms, teenagers (how can they ignore a message reading BE HOME BY 10 PM), grandparents (because of how simple this phone is to use) and anyone who likes to keep in touch while away from home but can't take the time to actually talk on the phone.

I would seriously recommend this phone to any working mom with school age children because the school can reach me regardless of where I am.

I give this phone a two kids, working spouse, and two thumbs up!
