You've served us well for nearly four years now, 'ole Sony. Your batteries seemed never to die; you were built like iron. Even today, you stand ready to receive and send calls with the best of them. Only the fickle preferences of a fourteen-year-old girl have done you in. Her friends make fun of you; the store clerks at Radio Shack gathered round you in wonderment. And there you sit, in your impassive, blocky, blackness, ready . . ready . . ready . .
But for the $100 rebate I'll get for turning you in, you'd be with me still, a relic to show the grandkids. I'm hoping that you'll be off to a better place, where someone who needs a cell phone can turn to you in times of distress, knowing that you'll always be there.
