The New Sony Ericsson S710a - Eye-catcher

Pros Great color screen; Bluetooth; megapixel camera with video; MP3 capable;
Cons Bulky; inconsistent battery life; slippery keys; small phone book.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  An attractive phone with an excellent digital camera by phone standards. An ideal phone for photo buffs who also like a nice set of phone and PIM features.
The Sony Ericsson S710a. Its parts and features come from a variety of superior sources, so it has great genetics. It has smarts, looks and physical abilities beyond most other phones.
The S710a is nearly the same as the SO505i and the S710a does the design right. All the navigation controls are on the same part of the body as the screen, so you can do just about everything other than compose a text message without opening the phone up. The screen, by the way, is a huge, bright QVGA affair that make all the other screens jealous.

On the back side of the unit is a small cover that open to reveal the 1.3 megapixel CCD lens. CCDs are the same type of sensor used on digital cameras, so iti??€™s worth protecting. A small, but powerful LED flash is positioned close to the lens, as is the speakerphone.

All in all the Sony Ericsson S710a is an attractive phone with an excellent digital camera by phone standards. An ideal phone for photo buffs who also like a nice set of phone and PIM features.
Its large screen with accurate, vivid colors and a bright display. 1.3 megapixel CCD camera is the envy of other camera phones on the market. A good set of phones features including PIM applications. Built-in Bluetooth is excellent for syncing with desktop and using handsfree solutions as well as other Bluetooth accessories. Comes with a nice set of PC companion software for managing files, syncing with desktop apps and processing images and video clips.

Still,with all these gravid features imbibed in it, the phone does have a few failings. Its an effort to punch numbers and letters due to the number pad design. Heavy SMS users won't appreciate the less than adequately predictive T9 implementation. Poor battery life when Bluetooth is turned on.

My opinion of this phone is that though the multimedia-friendly Sony Ericsson S710a has a solid feature set and an alternative design, it doesn't come together as well as it could. However Design would be the bottom line for this phone. So if you're a cell phone fanatic and multimedia maven who wants an eye-catching handset then this phone is for you.
