Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KD-36XS955 36 inch TV

This TV is the best buy out there right now. It gives a great, crisp HDTV picture, a good SDTV picture (depending on your provider) and DVD's are awesome! The thing that sold me on this TV over the 34" Widescreen model is that this one, when viewing widescreen content, is comparable to a 33" TV so you only lose 1" on the diagonal as compared to the 34" model, but for SD content you have a nice 36" screen as compared to the equivalent of a 28" TV when you view SD content on the 34" widescreen model. So the bottom line is that you get the best of both worlds with this TV. But keep in mind that it is EXTREMELY heavy so make sure you have friends available to help you get it into the house and set up.
