Great TV for the price
Pros
Vibrant colors, great sound, great value
Cons
Blacks are only a deep gray. Silver color of case.
Recommended it?
Yes
I just received this 50" LCD projection TV...the picture and sound (when displaying HD signals) are GREAT. The only downside is the lack of deep blacks (only a minor issue) and the long start-up time for the bulb to brighten.
While I like the built-in HD tuner, since I use on-demand services, I cannot use the CableCard feature... The HDMI input is a nice feature - hopefully I can use it soon with an upconverting DVD player.
The size and appearance of this Sony is good...while it would have been great to be black, I think they choose silver to avoid emphasizing the deep gray screen. I especially love the anit-glare coating on the front panel.
Aside from vibrant colors, I do have three dead pixels...they don't bother me unless I'm staring at the screen from 2"...and then the picture looks like crap anyway!!!
I ended up paying $1950 for the set (delivered) and added a 3-year TV and bulk warranty...I think I'll need at least a new bulb in 2-3 years so it was a good deal.
