The Bottom Line:
Pass on this one. Im a die-hard Sony fan, but they really botched this one. I wish I could take mine back. :(
So I bought this thing thinking I was going to get not only a TV but something of a stereo receiver as well. I was very wrong. I have to say that for a Sony this TV is a loser especially with the $4K price tag.
In all fairness the picture is pretty good. I have a Sony WEGA tube with a much better picture and really prefer to watch it, but tube vs. projection really isn't a fair comparison.
The audio is decent, but you have to read the fine print in that you cannot use the television speakers and your stereo speakers at the same time. You must disable the television speakers in order for the stereo output on the television to work.
I am also disappointed that the digital out only works when the television is receiving a digital signal (here is that fine print in the owner's manual again). It does not have the capability to convert an analog signal to a digital one like most devices with digital out. This means that you have to switch sources back and forth on your stereo when you are going from a digital or HD channel to a non digital or HD channel making the digital out pretty much worthless since there is no digital in besides the single HDMI input. What was Sony thinking on this one??
Overall it's a decent set, but I am very very disappointed with connection options. If I had it to do again I would not buy this TV. I really can't say what I would buy since I pretty much only buy Sony, but I'd certainly pass on this one.
Very disappointed and now very broke ;p
