THE best BIG picture for the price
The Sony Grand Wega 60XS955 meet all my criteria and more. I was just about set to buy the Samsung 56" DLP P5685W

when I saw the Sony next to it in a Circuit City store. The Sony was a little sharper, and LUCKILY, they also had the Samsung on a "normal" TV feed. The slight flicker caused by the many mirrors in the DLP technology, especially when not viewing an HD picture, was very noticable. Glad I didn't go for the DLP.
They say the LCD projections have "black crush", but I don't notice it at all, even watching a "dark" movie such as "Pirates of the Carribbean". Also, this TV has LOTS of picture settings, to adjust the picture. If you can't get it where you want it, you've got to be verrrrrrrrrrry picky!
Anyhow, this TV is awesome. I got a HDMI DVD player to go with it, and this is everything I expected from a tv costing this much. I found a vendor near me selling it for $3399, so I'm very happy. Yes, it will probably be cheaper in a year, but I'll have enjoyed it for that year also :-) They say the bulb is rated for around 5000 viewing hours, so that's a long time (to me). If I have to spend $300 to replace it, so be it...Go view this set for yourself, and compare.
