The Bottom Line:
Best bang for your bucks. You will not be disappointed!
I've had my system for over 6 months. I'm extremely satisfied with this system. I purchased this system to replace my old Magnavox MX-920 Pro Logic system. The Sony HT-DDW840 contains Pro Logic II format. It's makes for very enjoyable moments when viewing Dolby Digital DVD's. The surround sound format is one of the best. My friends usually turn their heads thinking a cell phone went off, car horn honked, or people are talking in the background.
My only compliant is the lacking bass effect on the front speakers when using the Normal surround sound mode. Also, it's a shame the surround sound speakers are not accessible when using the 2-channel mode (Center, Front Speakers). I usually use this mode when viewing sporting events (especially boxing matches). The bass is remarkable when using the 2-channel mode, but can not have the surround sound effect.
