The Bottom Line:
Buy this camera if you really want a professional feel to everything you shoot. Budget amateur directors; buy this camera! It is a god send!
First, lets start with the pressure i have put on my camera, and how much I have needed it. I am a college media student, who was given the task of shooting my own film; on my own camera. Of course i couldn't go with a Panavision Genesis, plus it needed to be in raw DV format. I went out and bought my HDR-HC7E thinking it would be a good camera. What I got was a triumph in Handycam technology. I have filmed almost 1000 hours worth of film on this camera, and not one second of it has not lived up to my expectations of an $1800 camera.
This camera can do anything; and I mean it. It offers a huge range of settings, all accessible through a simple-to-use touch sensitive LCD display (which I LOVE!). This camera has never skipped a beat, and has great battery life (3 hours approx. on one 2 hour charge). It's sleek, sexy, and offers a setting for every imaginable situation a person would need to film in. From pitch black, to candlelight and even filming a fireworks display, this camera is hard to beat!
And the HD is a god-send; every frame is crystal clear on play-back, and it does a flawless slow motion effect. I spent a whole day filming dripping water out of a tap on the slow motion setting!
Easy to use, effective, offers an extremely professional resolution and picture quality; I give this beast 9/10!
