Incredibly vivid picture, Sony has the best LCD television
Pros
clarity and detail of picture both from HD cable and upscaled DVD.
Cons
somewhat expensive compared to the competition
Recommended it?
Yes
I purchased the Sony 46" BXR2; it's pricey but worth the money. The pictures from DVD (Sony Dream System) are very vivid, as are the high-definition channels, notably Discovery Channel. The standard-definition channels aren't much to look at in comparison, and the relative scarcity of high-definition stations on cable will hopefully soon improve. This set is 1080p, so you can count on it being able to show Blu-Ray or HD-DVD in the highest definition.
When the screen is dark, you can see a slight image of "clouds" that others have described, but in my opinion it doesn't distract from the viewing experience.
A great TV with clarity and detail that will astound you.
