Sony KDL-46XBR4 piece of junk
Pros
I was very pleased with the tv until it died.
Cons
Died within 13 months. Cost to repair is more than what the tv is worth.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would NOT recommend this product or any other Sony product to anyone!
I bought my Sony KDL-XBR4 in Sept 2008. By Oct 2009, the picture when I first turned on the tv looked horrible. It was really dark with orange and red hues on the right side of the screen. Eventually it would "warm-up" and the picture would be fine. It used to take only 5 minutes, now it takes 45 minutes. Sometimes there is serious ghosting of images and/or vertical or horizontal lines across the screen. I called Sony in October (1 month out of warranty), and all she could tell me was that there was a problem with the tv (DUH!) and that it was out of warranty "so all financial liability will fall on you [me] for the repairs". I asked her if she thought a $3000 tv should FAIL in 13 months, to which she replied "no". I said either did I and that I would NEVER buy a Sony again and would tell everyone not to buy one either. I am finding that more and more people have the same problem. Sony is NOT stepping up to their responsibilities with this defect. They should be accountable for the problem. I was asked when I bought the tv if I wanted to purchase the extended warranty. My exact words were: "No, it's a Sony". My bad.
