The Bottom Line:
Great entry level HDTV. Perfect for small rooms and apartments.
$399, off the shelf display model.
I use this television daily. As a Film/Digital Media/Graphic Design student, I utilize the TV as a secondary/primary monitor to work on. It reproduces colors very accurately and allows me to design, photoshop and edit video's a lot better and with greater efficiency than bothering with a little laptop monitor or desktop monitor.
I also play Blue Ray's on this TV, and even at 720p, it's amazing. I can sit 3 feet in front of the TV and see extreme details. It's just like being at a movie theater.
The stock speaker system is also great! Holy cow! I was watching I Am Legend at 60% volume; and man, the neighbors came to check on me after hearing screams, gunshots and explosions.
Even though this was the display model (had been sitting on the shelf for over a year), there was absolutely no image burn whatsoever.
The TV is light weight, and easy to transport for those of you who like to move things around once in a while. Even my girlfriend can pick this TV up and move it with ease.
Cosmetically, the TV is great. I'm glad Sony went with the matte black, instead of Onyx Black when making this TV. Even the screen has minimal gloss and reflective glare, making it easy to watch TV in bright sunlight.
The little quirky plexiglass plastic piece is also a nice added touch, giving the TV itself a modern and progressive look.
The TV has a great power saving feature too, which auto-dims the backlight (easily customizable in the display settings, to your preference).
The connectors in the back are all inclusive of the standard video/audio connectors. 2 HDMI ports, a PC/RGB input, several AV inputs including one on the side for easy access, etc...
I am disappointed about the no MediaCard or USB user input. I was really looking forward to connecting my flash drive for music/movies/pictures. But this is remedied with a Male-to-Male VGA connector.
But overall, great for small apartments, the bedroom or anyone looking to start out into HDTV's for the first time, like me.
