The 57XBR2 provides a wonderful movie experience.

Pros Wonderful picture, lots of flexibility in connections, tint on screen reduces glare.
Cons Size, 27" deep. Could be brighter during the day, I have lots of windows.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you love movies, as I do, you can't go wrong with this set. HDTV is wonderful too! Superbowl was great!
I purchased the set from Good Guys. It was a floor demo model that I was able to get for $2699. A great price considering this set HAS an HDTV tuner built in! The TV is heavy! But it has wheels and moves on carpet easily. It has HDTV receiver which provides improved picture and sound for the offered programs. Currently a UHF antenna is my best source (see Radio Shack Double Bow-Tie antenna!). Football playoffs and Superbowl looked great! The HDTV picture is just unreal and more and more shows are being broadcast that way. Jay Leno, JAG, CSI, Smallville, and many others. Here's a rundown of features:

Built in HDTV receiver: see above
Wide Screen Mode: watch normal 4:3 in widescreen (minimal distortion.)
DRC Mulit-Function :Doubles vertical and horizontal lines, resulting in 4 times the density for DVD, Satillite and digital camcorder. (I can't tell the difference between this and progressive scan on my DVD.)
Twin View: You can watch 2 programs at the same time. (only one sound source)
Parental Control: A nice option to have.
Component Video Inputs: (1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i)
S-Video Inputs: My video camera uses this one.
CineMotion: provides optimal picture quality for media originally shot in 24 frames-per-second format.
Optical Digital Audio Out: Hook up to the stereo and here the HDTV audio broadcast too!
Dolby Digital: The set has an amp inside an hook ups on the back for rear speakers and subwoofer to complete the 5.1 surround sound.

This is really a great TV. I have looked at many others and I kept coming back to the Sony. It always seemed to have the brightest picture (even on normal settings). If you find this TV at this price, I would highly recommend its purchase. The Good Guys computer showed the wholesale price to be $2721, they had it listed at $5000. Circuit City also had the same TV for $4999. It also has some very nice component speakers in the TV. I don't use them very much at all though - I run all the audio through the receiver. I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me with any questions that I may not have addressed here.
