dlp is just better

Pros features( memory stick), ease of use (pip, etc)
Cons stuck pixels, lamp blowing issues, poor black levels
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  samsung dlp has a better picture but worse features and is harder to get around on.sony has bad lamp, stuck pixels
i bought the sony 50 inch and the hd pic was great from my pioneer hd tuner. i have sony everything (ps2, digital camera, computer, camcorder, pda) and the tv was just as good as those other products. the problem was i saw the picture that samsung's dlp 50 inch put out in side by side comparison. i was constantly trying to rationalize why the sony was better or just a good in this area. it just wasn't. dark movies suck (Solaris) looked bad on this tv. my friend saw two hd football games, one on the sony and one on the samsung and while he said the sony was good i couldn't get him to shut up about how good the samsung was and the clarity and color. "look at the grass, you can see each blade" i what i kept hearing. the sony was better in features (memory stick, pip use, adjustments, etc). the bottom line was the picture of the samsung was just better for me especially since i have a skylight that tended to wash out the sony screen. the sony just lacked the brightness that i needed to get good overall performance in all types of lighting. when looking at a direct tv hd feed to both sets i was sure that the dlp was superior. however i bought the sony because it was cheaper and because it was a sony. what sold me on exchanging the sony for the samsung was the 10 or so "stuck" pixels out of the box which is a property of lcd. (once you see them you won't be able to ignore them), also the defective lamp issue also scared me away from this tv. i still think that the sony is a good tv but for a couple of hundred more you get a picture that is as good or better than plasma. i researched tvs for a while and found this to be the best picture for the money. i love the features of the sony it just didn't have the picture to keep me or the feedback from you guys to make me trust the lamp longterm. when sony makes a dlp or an equivalent i will be the first one in line to get it. my eyes made this decision for me because my heart belongs to sony. paid $3250 (Best buy) plus gift card $250 (will use to buy samsung dvi dvd player) in reward zone points, i wanted the best possible picture and i think i got it. my friends won't shut up about my new tv!!!
