The Bottom Line:
Buy it, just not from Digital Mega Store
I took delivery of this unit about 6 months ago and have been in love with it ever since. The picture is awesome, and if you get one, make sure you have a progressive scan dvd player to go with it. Obviously you're going to want a high def cable box, because that's the only way you're going to enjoy the shows. But for movies, you have to have the progressive scan because the picture is insane. You can get a top of the line dvd player now for about 80 bucks, it won't record etc but it is all you need. the only small drawback to this set is the black values onscreen. Blacks don't show up real well, and you lose a lot of definition in dark scenes. But the rest of the time, and for sporting events in hi def, it is outstanding. If you get the hi def cable box, you'll need the dvr, too, because you can't tape vhs off the air and replay it on the set because it looks like crap. the dvr is easier to use and the picture still looks great. Do it! The only thing: do not buy it at Digital Mega Store. They are scum. And the internet people want to leave it in your driveway, or else you pay extra to bring it in the house. Buy it locally and pay them a couple bucks to hook you up. The thing is huge and you can't pick it up.
