Another Victim...Buys the Sony Despite the Defect...Does Not Escape the Curse
Pros
Outrageous picture quality, many helpful features, easy integration with other Sony products
Cons
At $3,000 plus a pop, a defect well defect should be corrected...DO NOT BUY
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Tempting fate? While I loved the picture, the thing does not work...that is unhelpful...yet, I will take a replacement that is new, rather than a Samsung...Hoping...
I followed the progression of advice on the net from the time the TV was introduced till the time I purchased my set...it seemed the manufacturing defect was corrected, or at least that it was increasingly unlikely. I thought I would miss the virus. Sadly I did not...
I loved the picture, although the Knicks still didn't win. I loved the viewing angle during those moments when the room was full and I would take the chair in the corner. I loved the input jacks - had many things hooked up at the same moment. I loved that fact that it was Sony - dependable Sony...recall, Sony, no Baloney.
But in truth, I did not love it after thirty hours of total viewing time, when the buzz started, the lamp button went on, and the set would not work...thirty hours of viewing!
Sony, for such a well know defect, shame on you! And in case you did not hear me, SHAME ON YOU! I had a ski club which could not see their latest video, a visit from my sister where she delighted in my TV only to see that it was a $3,000 buzz factory, and a visit from my nephew who asked me point blank - if you have the money, why buy something that does not work...and its a Sony...!
So Sony, if you think we are all one night stands, think again...when you did not correct your design/manufacturing defect, you not only screwed me, but my sister and my nephew got your point...three people not ready to buy from Sony...this is the way it starts when a company falls apart...
