The Bottom Line:
Nothing about this set is easy when you add surround and more components.
Great picture. No place for center channel, will have to mount a shelf behind the TV. That sucks. If you buy Sony's shelf, no place for center speaker at bottom because that's where the receiver has to go. No place for much of anything on the shelves except receiver, one other big item (satellite/hard drive recorder from Dish Network in my case), and the top shelf is just a very narrow slit.
If you buy aftermarket shelf such as the new Bush model (half the cost and about as pretty), you will have a lot more shelf space but the TV will be almost 8 inches taller. You will be looking UP at the screen. That doesn't work for me.
So, great picture, but the ergonomics of actually making this set work are simply terrible if you have a good 5.1 system and/or plan to add many audio/video components.
Sony should at least market a decent top shelf that can hold a good center speaker like my VR12 center, which must weigh over 20 pounds.
Oh, and the unit I got, fresh out of the box, has serious paint issues. That and a few bad pixels. This puppy is at least going to be traded in a couple of weeks when they get more in stock.
