The little TV that could
Pros
small?, good price, good sound
Cons
screen too low if you don't buy stand for extra $100+
Recommended it?
Yes
After I was forced to return our Sony KP53-V80 (I loved that TV so much), I felt like no TV would ever suit me. So, i decided to buy this small KP43-T70. I decided not to purchase the stand for an extra $120. The TV I got it for $1480+free delivery and 3 year warranty. It was a pretty good deal. So, I decided to purchase it. When it was delivered a couple of days later, it was put into the same spot where my 53" was. it was much smaller. I was not pleased with that, but when i turned it on, the screen and video was LARGE and excellent. So, in using this TV, I found this out:
Price:
Depends where you get it, generally it is $1499, but try to get it with a 3 year warranty and free shipping if possible. The price on this TV is good I'd say, but if you can get a 48" or higher for under $2000 and have plenty of room, at least 9' between your seat and the TV, go for it. I got my KP53-V80 for less than $2000.
Size:
The TV itself compared to other big screens is quite small, and can fit small rooms. This TV does NOT hurt your eyes, if you prevoiously had a bigger TV, it can seem like a little baby, but the picture it projects is still very big. This TV is suitable for pretty much anyone, because it does not hurt your eyes close up unlike other larger TVs. So, it can be great for little kids, or small rooms. So buy this if you need a TV like this one.
Sony itself does not make 'cheap' stuff, so you don't have to worry about it breaking, because it most likely wont ;-)
Video:
The video is good, nothing too special about it. it is worser quality than the KP53/61-V80, but the tint and color compared to other 41" or 43" TVs of other brands shows to be better.
Sound:
Again, same as the video. It's good and a good value for the price. Nothing special about it, and it will do with anyone who wants nice sound.
Screen:
No glare, comes with a plastic sheild built-in.
Durability:
Built like a rock, can't break it, it's built to last.
CONS:
If you do not purchase the stand, the TV is set quite low, and the speakers are at the bottom. This will hinder the sound quality a bit, and if you're sitting on a couch, it is not as enjoyable as a screen that would have been built higher. The stand is expensive, but if you really want to get most out of this TV, buy it or make your own stand :-\
The Verdict:
Overall, this is a great TV for a good price. The stand costs too much $$$. But the TV delivers exceptional sound and the best (of what I've seen) picture quality in the projection TV class. It is a good buy, but if you have a big room of at least a you ---> TV area of 9', try to buy a larger TV for under $2000. But for around $1500, it's a good buy.
